taking a break

man, what a fantastic weekend!

i'm between events right now so i'm taking this time to breathe and collect myself...by searching online for sponsorship info for our march 2008 event. our = my alumnae chapter. i volunteered to chair this go 'round and wait...let me back it up and so some 'splainin' for those who don't know.

i am actively involved in my school's local alumnae chapter. i have served as scholarship chair for the past 3 (?...it's all a blur) years. in addition to that responsibility, i also took on leading the committees for two of our annual events...a tea to send off the incoming freshmen from our state and our jazz concert, the proceeds of which fund our scholarship. the concert is our biggest and only fundraiser and i'd like to make it substantially (and consistently) more profitable this year. that's why i'm looking online for sponsorship to underwrite the cost of putting on the concert.

the tea was this past weekend and it was a great success. my decisions were second-guessed but i prevailed and i am thankful for that. my next event is not alumnae related but is very special. my baby cousin is turning a year old this month and my sister and i are in charge of the decorations and entertainment. it's a magical garden/bug theme and is going to be SO cute.

anyway, i do realize that i am still working through my break but believe me this is some serious slacking. if i don't have at least three things to do simultaneously i'm bored. i'm sure in some circles this is a disorder.

you might like to know the reason i'm doing all of this planning. well, it's not only because i enjoy it but also because i'm looking to build up my experience so that i can get paid to do this. i have big home remodeling plans and someone's got to finance them.

what does sponsoring the event involve?

basically it involves giving our group money to cover the costs of putting on the concert (venue, sound, travel, accomodations, food, printing, etc.)
