this year my allergies have manifested as congestion and dry throat. while this is light-years better than the hives i suffered last year, i have found myself in quite a predicament. you see, i'm a swallower. i have yet to master the art of coughing up and spitting out phlegm. i cough and it comes up partially - never all the way - leading me to swallow it back down.
so now i am forcing myself to become a spitter. i had trouble getting to sleep last night and managed to cough up a good bit of the thick, yellow stuff. i think the key is to just keep coughing. my sister advised me to bring it up through my nose by taking a deep breath then blowing. that hasn't really worked though. i do try to expectorate as much as i can when i brush my tongue in the morning. this seems to work best for me but doesn't do much for the during-the-day congestion.
c'est la vie!

just keep swallowing, spitting is messy, and if you aren't usually a spitter, it can get ugly
too late. i've been spitting since yesterday afternoon. i even woke up in the middle of the night to spit.
The post title did not live up to the post
did u mean the post didn't live up to the post title?
i sincerely hope you don't take this spitting display outside the confines of your house
i do it at work and in the car as well. you must not realize how phlegmy i am.
i have a recommendation, teeteezie: when you shower, massage your sinus cavities. it might interrupt the post nasal drip, which eventually becomes the icky stuff you cough up. also, start drinking ginger tea (if you can stand the taste) w/ lemon and honey. it'll scare the snot out of you. it also makes it easier to spit. happy spitting!
